A memorable fantasy story needs more than magic and battles. It needs a world that feels alive.

In The Chronicles of Arnalay: The Journey of the Lorfield, author P.T. Lorin introduces readers to Skylight, a sprawling fantasy realm shaped by ancient traditions, magical forces, political divisions, strange creatures and generations of conflict. At the center of it all is Persona Lorfield, a young man whose journey begins in the relatively familiar surroundings of South Oak before carrying him into a much larger struggle.

For readers who enjoy exploring new fantasy worlds piece by piece, Skylight offers plenty to discover.

South Oak: Where the Journey Begins

South Oak is more than Persona’s hometown. It is where much of his identity is formed.

The village is home to the Academy of Magistrates, where Persona and his companions prepare for adulthood and eventually receive their Pleadantary Papers. It is there that eight students discover the mysterious Indigo Mark, linking them to a future none of them fully understands.

South Oak also sits close to Marsh Elemer, a place where Persona encounters the Great Repton and begins to realize that his connection to Skylight’s creatures and older forces may be far deeper than he imagined.

But South Oak does not remain safe for long.

The attack on Persona’s home and the destruction surrounding it transform the village from a place of security into the emotional starting point of his larger quest.

Decision: A Land Worth Defending

Beyond South Oak lies the broader territory of Decision, one of the major political and cultural forces in the story.

Its capital, Decidian, represents both hope and contradiction. When Persona and his companions approach the city, they find a place associated with democracy, royalty, politics, inequality and public expectation. The people begin to recognize Persona because of the Lorfield name and what it represents.

Decision is not presented as perfect. It has internal divisions, class tensions, political struggles and leaders who do not always agree.

That complexity gives the world greater depth. Persona is not simply fighting to protect a flawless kingdom. He is fighting for a society that still has problems of its own.

Conifer: The Shadow Across Skylight

If Decision represents freedom under pressure, Conifer represents fear, control and militarized power.

Ruled through figures such as Queen Indigo, Babyl of the Black and the brutal Mazok forces, Conifer becomes one of the central threats to Skylight. Maz Mavros, in particular, emerges as a terrifying symbol of what unchecked power can become.

The conflict between Decision and Conifer gives the novel its larger political stakes, but the story continually connects those stakes back to ordinary lives.

Villages burn. Forests suffer. Families are separated. Animals are hunted. Communities are forced to choose between fear and resistance.

A World Connected by Magic and Memory

Skylight is also filled with mystical traditions.

Siphon Hand Mirrors, magical Seeds, Praetorian Knights, ancient temples, spirits, unusual beasts and the Great Lorfield Seed all connect the present to a much older history.

The Great Seed itself symbolizes more than power. Early in the story, it is associated with healing forests, restoring fields, calming storms and bringing divided people together.

That idea captures what makes Skylight compelling.

It is a world threatened by destruction, yet constantly searching for renewal.

From South Oak and Ozway Forest to Decidian, Conifer, ancient temples, mountains, marshes and battle-scarred settlements, P.T. Lorin’s The Chronicles of Arnalay: The Journey of the Lorfield invites readers into a fantasy landscape where every place carries history and every journey reveals another piece of it.

The book is currently in the publishing phase and will be available soon for readers.
